ROCKLEDGE, FL – October 14th, 2016 – Mainstream Engineering Corporation, a 30-year-old Brevard county research and manufacturing company, has been awarded a contract from the Office of Naval Research to fabricate ultra-long carbon nanotubes (ULCNTs) using Mainstream’s unique reactor.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are well known for their enormous potential to improve thermal, electrical and mechanical properties of materials. The goal of this contract is to increase the length and yield of CNTs by mitigating the failure mechanisms common in nanotube growth. Mainstream has already demonstrated their innovative reactor design and will focus this effort on growing CNTs up to 2 centimeters long.
