Mainstream develops alternative working fluids where existing fluids
are not sufficient or when fluids need to be replaced for environmental
concerns. Mainstream has capabilities in analytical, computational
and physical chemistry to assist our chemical engineers with selecting
or developing new fluids. Our analytic equipment is capable of identifying
and quantifying solid, liquid and vapor samples. Using computational
software we can numerically model and accurately predict the properties
of untested compounds. Mainstream can also experimentally measure
properties such as surface tension, viscosity, density, thermal
conductivity, thermal stability, corrosion rates, vapor pressure,
heat of vaporization, heat capacity and melting point. Current
research is being performed for NASA and DOD.
