Mechanical Engineer
Description
Mainstream Engineering is looking for Mechanical Engineers with a strong background in any of the following areas: machine design, manufacturing, fluid dynamics, thermal control, and rotordynamics. We have an immediate need for engineers to develop military and commercial products as well as perform government sponsored research and development.
- Machine design engineers will perform the mechanical design for our expanding line of thermal control and energy conversion systems including internal combustion engines, auxiliary power units, ram air turbines, and environmental control units. Engineers will design mechanical structures including sheet metal housings and machined/formed parts and assemblies using CAD/CAM software. Stress/strain finite element analysis is performed on these structures. This engineer will also oversee prototyping and testing including shock and vibration, impact, corrosion, and other environmental tests.
- Fluid/thermal engineers will perform engineering design for the same expanding line of thermal control and energy conversion systems. Engineers use a combination of analytical and finite element software tools to analyze performance of compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, valves, and other thermal/fluid devices. The engineer will also oversee prototyping and testing including performance and environmental testing.
- Rotordynamic engineers will perform rotor design and analysis for a variety of high-speed turbines and compressors. Engineers will perform predictive analysis of rotors, bearings, and seals, with the aid of computational tools such as DyRoBeS and other finite element-based software. They will conduct modal analysis and vibration testing in the laboratory and will oversee prototyping through limited production runs.
Experience in the following is preferred:
- CAD experience in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, ProE or related software
- Stress/strain FE experience in ANSYS, COMSOL, Algor or related software
- Aerodynamic CFD experience in Fluent, STAR-CCM, or related software
- Experience with laboratory equipment including thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, strain gages, accelerometers, etc.
- LabVIEW software, data acquisition, and experimental methods
- Manufacturing methods including metal working, injection molding, CNC machining/programming, etc.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and other performance requirements documents is a plus
Mainstream offers competitive salaries and complete benefits packages including medical, dental, life, 401(k) with employer match, paid training and continuing education.
