Mechanical Design Engineer
Mainstream Engineering Corporation (MEC) is currently looking for both Mechanical Design Engineers and Mechanical Research Engineers.
Mechanical Design Position Summary:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you are capable of designing components and systems for a wide range of R&D projects. Typically the systems are for thermal control or energy conversion applications. We transition R&D to military and commercial products, so part of this job is product development. Specific skills include:
- Mechanical or machine design experience with CAD/CAM
- Capable of designing machined parts
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Sheet metal design work
- Quality control measurement devices- CMM, micrometers, calipers, etc
- Mechanical experience with bearings, seals, shafts, gears etc
- Some finite element analysis
- Some prototyping and testing
- Solid understanding of materials, mechanics, dynamics, vibration control
Minimum Requirements:
- BS, MS or PHD in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.3 in all earned degrees
- US Citizenship required per US government ITAR regulations
- Hands on laboratory/testing experience preferred
- Solid understanding of heat transfer/thermodynamics
- Mechanical orientation with problem solving mentality
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing experience preferred
